ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Dr. Ruth Clemans of Marietta, Georgia recently participated
in a five weekend long course entitled “Comprehensive Orthodontic
Education” conducted here by the American Orthodontic Society,
Inc. The course, which included 100 hours of lecture and lab exercises,
provided Dr. Clemans and her colleagues with a thorough review on
the techniques and problems of Straight Wire Technique, a modern,
clinically proven method of straightening teeth. Dr. Robert Gerety,
a nationally known instructor for the past 20 years, was the clinician
for the course.
Dr. Clemans offers orthodontic treatment as well as
general dentistry in her practice which she has maintained at 3960
Shallowford Road Ste. B in Marietta
for the past 4 years. She is one of thousands of general dentists across the
country who offers orthodontic care as well as general dental services.
A 1982
graduate of Miami University in Ohio, Dr. Clemans received her dental
education at The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry graduating in
1986 with a D.D.S. degree. She then completed advanced graduate studies at
Emory University, completing her Dental General Practice Residency in 1987.
The
course conducted here was sponsored by the American Orthodontic Society,
Inc., a national non-profit educational organization headquartered in Dallas,
TX. The society’s 2,000 members are primarily composed of general dentists
and pediatric dentists who also offer orthodontics in their practices. For

To the Editor: Please not
that Dr. Clemans is a general dentist who is skilled in orthodontics and
includes orthodontics in her practice. She is not, however,
an orthodontist and it would be improper to refer to her as such.
